I don’t know where to start because there are so many incredible benefits about cranberry that it’s hard to focus on just one! However, I can tell you right off the bat that I have found drinking small amounts of unsweetened cranberry juice helps to brighten your smile along with many other wonderful perks. Yes, it’s true: when you consume cranberry juice, it starts to break down unwanted plaque that has built up on your enamel over time. Not only can you receive whitened teeth, but cranberry juice also kills bacteria. And because the phytochemicals in the berry prevent gum disease and gingivitis, this equals fewer dentist visits!
Another great find is the floss I use daily that is lined with cranberry essence and xylitol. Xylitol, which reduces the risk of tooth decay, also increases saliva production further protecting your teeth and keeping your PH balance in check. The brand I love is called Radius and it’s about 3 dollars. (It is also 100% vegan.) This floss in combination with brushing gives me that “smooth just back from the dentist” feel. I do not whiten my teeth and truly feel the difference of what drinking cranberry juice has done for me, not to mention all of its anti-aging effects. Additionally, since it is said that each of our teeth connect to an organ, it is vital to keep our dental hygiene in tiptop condition!
I usually pour about 1 to 2 ounces of unsweetened cranberry juice (I prefer Lakewood brand) into an 8oz cup and dilute it with filtered water. I drink this every morning with a straw about 30 minutes before breakfast. I use the floss at night before bed.
